REVIEW – When power metal meets opera, the result is ‘Triumviro’—a bombastic, cinematic debut from Italian symphonic metal supergroup THE 7TH GUILD, arriving February 21st via Scarlet Records. The brainchild of Tomi Fooler (Skeletoon), this trio of metal tenors—joined by Giacomo Voli (Rhapsody Of Fire) and Ivan Giannini (ex-Vision Divine/Derdian)—delivers a triumphant fusion of classic power metal glory and the grandeur of operatic tradition.
The journey begins with “Holy Land”, a powerful and emotional opener drenched in cinematic orchestration and soaring vocal harmonies. “The 7th Guild” follows with a punchy, melodic arrangement that’s catchy, theatrical, and utterly magnetic—it’s the mission statement of the entire project, delivered with heart and drama.
“Glorious” lives up to its name, blending keys, layered vocals, and evocative melodies that pull you into a sweeping tide of memory and pride. “La Promessa Cremisi” builds slowly and passionately, exploding into a climax of full-throttle choirs and majestic instrumentation. The operatic foundation truly shines on “In Nomine Patris”, a song that will have fists raised and crowds chanting in unison—it’s the soundtrack to a revolution in full bloom.
The tempo shifts with “Time”, a brief yet beautiful piano-driven piece that offers a dreamlike interlude before launching back into the full-scale grandeur of “Guardians Of Eternity”, which balances metal intensity with heartfelt lyricism. “The Metal Charade” is pure speed metal magic—fast, melodic, and filled with jaw-dropping vocal acrobatics. The record closes with “Fairy Tale”, a six-minute epic that’s as emotionally rich as it is musically intricate—ending this sonic saga with both elegance and fire.
‘Triumviro’ is more than just an album—it’s a theatrical experience that redefines the boundaries between classical art and heavy metal. With world-class performances, cinematic orchestration, and expertly crafted storytelling, THE 7TH GUILD invites listeners on a journey of sound and spirit. This is the operatic metal album we didn’t know we needed.
