San Francisco-based singer-songwriter EllaHarp will release the music video for her forthcoming album’s title track, “Screaming Into The Void,” tomorrow, August 20. The stunning video, which debuted yesterday with PARADE, was filmed on an oceanfront bluff, capturing the song’s essence perfectly.
Laura Whitmore of PARADE raved about the song and video, saying: “sweetly rhythmic with lilting vocals…EllaHarp’s ‘Screaming Into the Void’ is both soothing and penetrating. The repeating harp arpeggiations carry the tune, while the lyrics express her intense frustration. The result is a lovely paradox with a coolly calming video.”
EllaHarp is a curious sort of artist, as evident across her forthcoming full-length, Screaming Into The Void, out September 17. The new album offers a unique blending of folk and Americana with pop sensibilities, highlighting dark, thoughtful lyrics and memorable hooks.
“Originally, ‘Screaming Into The Void’ was written about the frustrations of releasing music as an independent artist in the digital age,” says EllaHarp. “While there is more opportunity for music now than ever, amidst the overwhelming quantity of content coming out on any given day it can feel a lot like you’re making literally no difference whatsoever. That said, sometimes songs develop deeper meaning after time. Now it’s become almost an anthem for me to keep working at what is important, no matter how much time or effort it takes.”
