CROBOT will return October 28 with their new album SOMETHING SUPERNATURAL on Wind-up. The central Pennsylvania-based group, praised by Pittsburgh Music Magazine as “wild, brutal and sexy all at once” (5/20/14), have revealed the cover artwork in a video–designed by guitarist CHRIS BISHOP–exclusively on LOUDWIRE.com today: (HERE).
“All the art was made on 22×30 paper with pen and ink and watercolor,” explains guitarist CHRIS BISHOP. ”I used a lot of inspiration from Alphonse Mucha for the look of the album…And the devil.”
CROBOT are currently in the midst of an east coast summer trek which will hit Brooklyn’s St. Vitus on Wednesday, August 27. Following the east coast run, the group will perform its first-ever west-coast headlining run, including Los Angeles at The Viper Room on Thursday, September 4 (see all dates below).
A band that can rock at all tempos, CROBOT has crafted an album of endless good time rock hooks with SOMETHING SUPERNATURAL. The band worked with the producer Machine (Clutch, Lamb of God, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes) at his Machine Shop studios to perfect their blend of funk, blues, metal and rock and roll. The same team worked on CROBOT’s self-titled EP (LISTEN HERE) praised by Revolver magazine: “…the central Pennsylvania quartet stomps through these four songs with the authority of a group that’s been around for decades, weaving together the deep grooves of stoner rock with grunge, blues, and metal influences” (May 2014). Elsewhere, the Centre Daily Times described the group as, “The American version of Wolfmother, a Kings of Leon on speed” (daily, State College, PA, 2/14/14). Meanwhile, Loudwire called the EP “one of the dirtiest, grooviest discs you’ll hear all year” (5/12/14).
The good-time anthem and first single “Nowhere To Hide” has cracked the Top 20 at radio, climbing to #16 this week with major market support including SiriusXM Octane, WIIL Chicago, WRIF Detroit, KISW Seattle, KXXR Minneapolis, WIYY Baltimore, WJRR Orlando and WFTK Cincinnati, among others. Watch the video for “Nowhere To Hide” (HERE). Another album highlight is the slow-building groove of “Skull Of Geronimo,” where CROBOT display stellar musicianship and lyrical depth.
CROBOT—BRANDON YEAGLEY (lead vocals, harmonica), CHRIS BISHOP (guitar, vocals), JAKE FIGUEROA (bass), PAUL FIGUEROA (drums)–spent the past few years honing their live show and garnering a devoted following from their bombastic U.S. performances at festivals and club shows. After more high-profile tours with Clutch, The Sword, Truckfighters, Kyng and Kill Devil Hill, 2014 and 2015 promise to be the biggest for CROBOT yet, with a Top 20 song at radio, a new album full of hooks and intelligent songwriting, intense live performances and their unique brand of humor.
Here’s the critical reaction for CROBOT so far:
“Rock fans around the planet can likely agree on one thing: There is a sad shortage of good old-fashioned, straightforward guitar riffs on the planet these days. Never fear, however: Pennsylvania band Crobot is out to remedy that with its blend of funk, blues, metal and rock and roll, which its rapidly growing fanbase is comparing to such classic hook-builders as Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age.”
–Wendy Geller, YAHOO! (8/12/14
“…for fans of Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age.”
–Jeff Miers, BUFFALO NEWS (5/14/14)
“What would happen if the Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Queens of the Stone Age and everything you love about 70’s metal had a love child? Well they did and its name is Crobot. With a stage performance that is wild, brutal and sexy all at once, they’re poised to take as a band that can crossover into many genres and find fans among many musical tastes.”
–Alan D. Welding, PITTSBURGH MUSIC MAGAZINE (5/20/14)
“The love child of Josh Homme and Russell Brand, CROBOT crushed their debut at Rock On The Range. Vocalist Brandon Yeagley moved like a man possessed to the heavy bass lines of Jake Figueroa.”
–Daniel DeSlover, EXAMINER, (5/20/14)
“…a soulful and energetic performance.”
–Liz Ramanaud, LOUDWIRE (5/11/14)
“Crobot embodies the old school mentality of leaving every ounce of energy on the stage in order to mesmerize the audience. Stirring together the finest riff rattling chord progressions of Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith with the rhythmic funk of Stevie Wonder and 90s heaviness of Rage Against The Machine, Crobot performed in front of a small New York City crowd as if they were Queen headlining Wembley Stadium. On stage, the band’s passionate delivery flooded onto the audience leaving many with gleaming eyes in awe of what they just witnessed. CROBOT’s ability to merge the bombastic thrills of past and present rock music demonstrated something euphoric and transcendent that is desperately lacking in music nowadays.”
–Anthony Toto, BAEBLE MUSIC (5/8/14)
