With the release of a bold new single and music video ‘Digital Penetration’, NYC electronic shock rocker JUSTIN SYMBOL and his band have created a style all their own, which SYMBOL calls “Digital Rock”. The single contrasts classic 80’s Industrial beats with newer synth elements from current EDM, and tops it off with a crushing wall of guitars sourced from modern metal. The ‘Digital Penetration’ music video shifts violently between a dark dreamy trancelike state and a harsh white static reality where SYMBOL and his band mates rock out to an ultra heavy chorus.

“‘Digital Penetration’ is a statement, a commentary on Western society, says Symbol. “One moment we are shocked and horrified, jolted awake out of our dream state by events such as school shootings and foreign crises. The next we are back in the dream state, lulled back to complacency by a digital reality comprised of social media and entertainment that is always one click away.”

This powerful piece, directed by Dee Wassell and produced by JUSTIN SYMBOL, also serves to announce that new ten-track album V Ω I D H E A D, is now available for pre-order via iTunes. SYMBOL describes the album as “a concept record which takes the listener on a disturbing and beautiful journey through the psyche of a character named the “Voidhead”.

V Ω I D H E A D will be released October 15, 2014 and is produced by JUSTIN SYMBOL and keytarist BABA YAGA and mixed by Michael Spivack, while mastering credits go to Ryan Schwabe of Maniac Mansion Mastering. Mastering took place at The Headroom in Philadelphia, PA earlier this summer.

The “Voidhead” represents a sort of modern day Prometheus or every-man,” explains Symbol. “He is all of us. He is a person who as a result of this society we live in has no self-esteem, no values, no religion or spirituality, and who is so dominated by external and internal fear that he is unable to love anyone let alone himself.

Through the course of these ten tracks, SYMBOL and his band expand on the template of their new “Digital Rock” sound – the result is a raw hybrid of EDM, Industrial, and metal which takes the listener through a roller coaster ride of thoughts and emotions.

In order to tell the full story of V Ω I D H E A D, SYMBOL will continue to release one music video per month for the next five months. The release of the album will be accompanied by a U.S. East Coast tour, the dates for which will be announced soon.

JUSTIN SYMBOL should not be mistaken as a studio project. The band’s wild live performances marry glitter and gore, sexuality, and pop cult pageantry in a bizarre shamanistic orgy of the senses that could only have been spawned in New York City. Catch them live at these events below:
