TURNSTILE Unleash New Single and Video “Real Thing” Ahead of Roadrunner Records Debut

Hardcore visionaries TURNSTILE are back with a brand-new single and music video for “Real Thing,” their first release since 2016’s Move Thru Me EP. The track, now streaming on the band’s official YouTube channel, is accompanied by a visually striking video directed by Mortis Studio—known for their work with Adult Swim and Earl Sweatshirt. The video made its initial debut on the VICELAND TV Network earlier today.

“Real Thing” serves as the first preview of TURNSTILE’s highly anticipated debut full-length for Roadrunner Records, scheduled to drop in Winter 2018.

Vocalist Brendan Yates explains the song’s message:

“’Real Thing’ is about the idea of happiness being made up in the imagination. The way you imagine perfection from your past can blind you to real beauty and life right in front of you, resulting in a circle of discontent.”

Fans won’t have to wait long to see TURNSTILE live. The band kicks off a month-long U.S. tour tomorrow, November 3rd, alongside The Story So Far and Drug Church. Tickets are available now.

TURNSTILE—Brendan Yates (vocals), Franz Lyons (bass/vocals), Brady Ebert (guitar), Pat McCrory (guitar), and Daniel Fang (drums)—have made waves worldwide with their vibrant energy and genre-bending sound. Praised by The New Yorker for their “melodic riffs, bright-eyed spirit, and riotous sets,” the band has also earned acclaim from:

  • NPR, calling them “freewheeling and heavy…with shout-along choruses and grooves that do more than just open up the pit.”
  • The Washington Post, noting “the unabashed funkiness of TURNSTILE feels so invigorating.”
  • Noisey, declaring the band has “positively exploded, moving from exciting prospect to one of the most talked about bands in hardcore.”
  • Stereogum, hailing them as “the biggest band in hardcore.”
  • Thrasher Magazine, simply putting it: “These guys are powerful.”
  • GQ, adding, “TURNSTILE is more than a good hardcore band—they’ve got a whole movement behind them.”

With “Real Thing,” TURNSTILE continues pushing boundaries and solidifying their place as one of the most exciting bands in the hardcore scene today.
