Thrash Legends FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Reveal Lyric Video for Title Track from Blistering New Album Blood In The Water
Blood In The Water Out June 4 via AFM Records – Pre-Orders Available Now
“We had almost finished the entire record when this one popped up,” says drummer Ken K Mary. “We knew from the sheer intensity of the piece we were going to have to add it to the album, even though we had tons of great songs already. It ended up becoming the title track. It’s one of the most aggressive FLOTSAM songs ever and the video is just an extension of the song.”
“Blood In The Water” sees the return of FLOTSAM AND JETSAM’s Flotzilla, the creature that graced the Arizona-based quintet’s 1986 debut Doomsday for the Deceiver, in an updated and even more menacing form.
“Mash up speed metal, thrash metal, power metal, and throw yourself around the pit metal,” says vocalist Eric “AK” Knutson. “But beware, if you swim in the FLOTSAM pool, Flotzilla can smell the ‘Blood in the Water.’ The video says it all…Flotzilla is back. He’s a mountain of fury and he’s lurking in the water and waiting.”

Heralded as “the most under-rated metal band on the planet, ”FLOTSAM AND JETSAM is poised and ready to finally lay claim to the thrash metal throne with the blistering Blood In The Water.
“We’re very excited about this album, ”Knutson says.“ The last go around with ‘The End of Chaos’ we felt a difference in the air, so to speak. The fans were somehow even more crazy, and that’s saying a lot, since FLOTSAM fans are crazy to start with. We wanted to continue the trajectory and the mayhem, so with this release we upped the ante. Strap in and ‘Brace For Impact’ when you listen to this album.”
It’s been 35 years since FLOTSAM AND JETSAM released their landmark debut, the only album to ever receive a 6K rating from the influential British magazine Kerrang!Bassist Jason Newsted would jump ship to Metallica while the band released the unstoppable No Place for Disgracein 1988.Cuatro(1992),Drift(1995),High(1997), and My God(2001) all still rank extremely high in heavy metal circles. But it was the first part of this unofficial trilogy in 2016’s self-titled Flotsam and Jetsam that a certain rejuvenation and reset was clearly felt.
Fast-forward five years to a planet that was forced to its knees. While spending most of the past year in a holding pattern like the rest of the world, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM made the best of a struggling situation and just let those creative juices and angst flow. What emerged are the twelve crushing new tracks known as Blood In The Water.
