SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THECONSPIRATORS Live at The Fillmore

When you hear the name Slash, the first thing that might come to mind is the iconic group Guns ‘N’ Roses. When Slash is not on tour with the group, he works on some of his own music and records and tours with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. They made a stop at the Fillmore for their The River is Rising Tour and brought the all-girl group Plush with them.

Plush opened the show with a 7 song, 30-minute set.  The 4 girls brought a very high energy set to get the packed Fillmore fans all pumped up.  They played mostly their music, except for one cover of Heart’s classic hit “Barracuda,” which I think was one of the best covers I’ve heard in a long time and would have made the members of Heart proud.  This is one group keep an eye on.

After a brief intermission it was time for Slash and Myles Kennedy to rock the stage, to a packed house of eager fans to see them tear it up.  With the lights down you could see the band entering the stage. Before the lights came up you could see that iconic top hat of Slash’s and you knew right then BAM you were about get a blast of good rock-n-roll.  When the lights came up, the fans went insane.

Slash and Kennedy with the boys played a good 2 hours with a 20-song set and one encore.  They played original material and a few covers.  The highlight of the night for me was the classic Elton John song, “Rocket Man.” They also performed songs off their new album, “Slash 4 Feat Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.”  Slash and Kennedy opened the show with “Driving Rain.”  Slash is one of greatest guitar players of his time, and Myles Kennedy has one of best voices I have heard in while. The two of them together make for one great show that people need to see.
