MORDEO: Everything Is Noise Premieres Debut Full-Length From California Sludge/Crust Metal Outfit Feat. Members Of Amarok, Aberrance, And Level; Record To Drop This Friday!

Everything Is Noise is currently streaming the self-titled full-length debut from California sludge/crust metal conjurors MORDEO in its entirety. The premiere comes on the eve of the recordâs official unveiling on Friday, March 27th through a three-way collaboration with Hypaethral Records, Forever Never Ends Records, and Shove Records.

Best described as noisy, aggravated, sludgy crustÂ MORDEOâs sound is a violent collision of d-beat fury and suffocating sludge with walls of abrasive noise. Direct, deliberate, and relentlessly hostile, songs stretch out, twist through multiple sections, and make full use of dual guitars without losing the immediacy of hardcore aggression.Â MORDEOÂ â made up of members of Amarok, Aberrance, and Level â exists to reflect the ugliness of the present moment and turn it into something communal, loud, and impossible to tune out.

Writes Everything Is Noise in part, âForced to come up with only one word for this project, Iâd pick âsundering.â This is high-class sludge metal for a low-class world, grafted with bits of crusty hardcore and D-beat which means I canât help but compare it to the late, great Black Breath. If you know who that band is/was, then I know you just hit play because thatâs not a comparison I make lightly. MORDEO arenât imitators though â for as apparent as their influences may be at times, they still operate in such a way that itâs hard to pin them down.â

Forged in September 2023,Â MORDEOÂ came together with a simple goal: to make music that is at once ugly, confrontational, and impossible to ignore. What started as a group of seasoned players looking to create something local quickly turned into a full creative fixation. Within a year, the band had written an albumâs worth of material and began unleashing their punishing live set in August 2024.

While comparisons land somewhere between a d-beatâdriven Full Of Hell, the bleak crust of His Hero Is Gone, the raw drive of early Black Breath, and the oppressive weight of Primitive Man,Â MORDEOâs identity comes from the collision of its membersâ musical backgrounds. Punk and hardcore roots grind against sludge and doom sensibilities, while death metal influences add density and force. The result is music that feels both feral and deliberate â fast when it needs to cut, slow when it needs to crush.
