LIEFORM Demand We Pay For Our ‘Crimes’ – Out Feb 7th

Lieform’s debut album, Crimes, is a new-age concept album discussing the various crimes we as people commit against each other and even ourselves. There are songs that discuss loss and hurt from crimes we commit during relationships. Some discuss the opioid epidemic, while others shed light on our military servicemen and women who struggle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders; both of which are crimes being committed through policy or inaction by the very systems we promote to keep us safe and healthy.

From a man sitting at home wishing his lover would stop scrolling through her phone long enough to notice how lonely he is, to a wife sitting at the dinner table wondering if her junkie husband will even be home tonight. From a child hiding in his room from his abusive, alcoholic mother, to the male, same-sex couple dealing with domestic violence that no one discusses just because they’re both male.

Lieform aims at these tough topics with steel and high-gain melodies, driving home the emotion with strong, gritty tones from lead guitarist Tony Alber and rhythm guitarist, TC Armstrong, and hitting us hard with huge drops and complex arrangements from drummer, J Arancivia and bassist, Forest Stewart with help on a few tracks from Jake Albrethsen. Tony’s influences of classic heavy metal collide with TC’s 90’s/00’s alt/grunge rhythm to create a raw, gritty sound, sweepingly backing up the dark and deep message conveyed in the lyrics.

Each song on the album takes the listener on a new journey, transcending genre consistently to bring the audience a large experience that is at times dark and reflective, yet at others bright and fun. Funky rhythms from songs like Stones Throw; head-banging, cronchy riffs from songs like pRONE and Different Day; large, arena-bursting melody and breathtaking powerful vocals intermingle seamlessly in songs like Colliding Heads and Facelift; visceral guitar and dynamic rhythm meld to create Shear, all leading the listener down a genre-bending, thought-provoking landslide of sound and energy.
