REVIEW – Out October 18th, via Metalville Records, The End of It All marks the triumphant return of ASTRAL DOORS with their tenth studio album. Five years since their chart success Worship or Die, this new release feels both like a reflection on current times and a potential closing chapter for the band, whose power metal prowess has been solidified over two decades. The End of It All delivers exactly what fans have come to expect from this Swedish metal institution—crunchy riffs, soaring vocals, and epic themes that sweep you off your feet.
The album opens with “Temple Of Lies”, a blistering track featuring crunchy riffs and soaring keyboards that set the tone for the journey ahead. The combination of Nils Patrik Johansson’s commanding vocals and the thunderous rhythms make this an instant standout. “Iron Dome” follows, sending shivers down the spine with its emotionally charged atmosphere, and “Vikings Rise” rallies listeners to stand united, ready to take on the world with its empowering anthem-like feel.
“Heaven’s Gate” and “Masters Of The Sky” push forward with more power metal magic, offering fist-pumping, head-banging moments filled with intricate guitar work and melodic flourishes. The title track, “The End of It All”, encapsulates the thematic weight of the album, urging reflection on the world’s current state while offering moments of triumphant energy. This song will surely have crowds fist-pumping and chanting along in live shows.
The second half of the album brings even more highlights. “Father Evil” and “When The Clock Strikes Midnight” keep the energy high with thundering drums, chugging riffs, and scorching guitar solos that embody the classic power metal sound. “A Night In Berlin” and “A Game Of Terror” close out the album with evocative storytelling, emotional depth, and musical grandeur, leaving the listener in awe of the band’s ability to craft such majestic metal epics.
While the title The End of It All suggests this could be ASTRAL DOORS’ swan song, the energy, passion, and musicianship on display make it feel like the beginning of something even greater. This release cements their legacy in the power metal world and offers a fitting tribute to fans who have followed their journey over the years.
