Summer may be ending, but not here in Dallas, TX. It seems summer lasts forever and thank goodness for that because otherwise Creed’s Summer of ’99 Tour might not have sold out Dos Equis Pavilion. Accompanied by Finger Eleven & 3 Doors Down, the three bands gave that sold-out crowd in Dallas the show of a lifetime. I do not think there is any other way to describe it because some fans, including myself, have been waiting a lifetime for this moment.
Starting off the night was Finger Eleven. The band played to an already quite full pavilion and started the night off with a bang. From guitarists James Black & Rick Jackett making the stage their own as partied across it to vocalist Scott Anderson producing almost studio-quality vocals, it was quite a sight to behold. Lest we forget the bone-shaking performances by bassist Sean Anderson & drummer Steve Molella, the band reminded Dallas why they have been a constant name in the music scene since 1990.
Hitting the stage next was 3 Doors Down. Hailing from Escatapwa, Mississippi and a driving force in the rock scene since 1996, I am sure every fan in attendance was on their feet for this set. Dallas was here for 3 Doors Down and 3 Doors Down was here to do the same for their fans. Vocalist Brad Arnold revealed to fans during the Dallas show how he was dealing with some personal matters and grieving the potential loss of a loved one. Despite this turmoil, Arnold, and the rest of 3 Doors Down still provided one of the best shows of their careers. Talk about dedication.
After much patient waiting, it was finally time for Creed to take the stage. I do not think I have heard such a deafening roar of applause at the venue lights dimmed and that “Creed” logo appeared on stage. With some bass and intro music that you could feel in every organ of your body, Creed took the stage. The band may have been doing this since 1994, but dang, they are putting some current bands to shame. From their stage presence to live-music quality, Creed really is that band. Every fan in attendance was screaming the lyrics back even louder than vocalist Scott Stapp. I do not think words can truly describe what a euphoric experience this was. This was truly a show for the ages and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
