Jason Crews is the owner and editor of INFRARED MAGAZINE and a Dallas–Fort Worth-based music journalist and concert photographer. ALICE IN CHAINS announced Rainier Fog, their first studio album in five years, for an August 24, 2018 release through BMG.
The announcement arrived alongside the album’s second advance track, So Far Under, following the earlier release of The One You Know. Both songs offered the first look at the band’s follow-up to 2013’s The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.
Rainier Fog also marked the band’s first album for BMG and included recording sessions in Seattle, Los Angeles and Nashville. The Seattle sessions took place at Studio X, where Alice In Chains had recorded its 1995 self-titled album when the facility was known as Bad Animals.
Nick Raskulinecz returned as producer, continuing a collaboration that included Black Gives Way to Blue and The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, with Joe Barresi handling the mix.
The album was announced for digital, CD and vinyl release, including a limited clear double-LP edition.
