ARCHIVE: ZEDS DEAD Unveil ‘Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness’

ARCHIVE NOTE: This article was reconstructed for the INFRARED archive from official 2025 label and artist materials. The original release date was March 7, 2025.

ZEDS DEAD returned with their second full-length album, Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness, on March 7, 2025 through Deadbeats. The 14-track release marked the Toronto duo’s first studio album in more than eight years and expanded their bass-music roots into a broader, cinematic mix of electronic, ambient, hip-hop and experimental production.

The album followed 2016’s Northern Lights and arrived during a period in which Dylan “DC” Mamid and Zachary “Hooks” Rapp-Rovan had continued building Deadbeats into one of independent electronic music’s most visible labels and touring brands.

Rather than approaching the record as a conventional collection of singles, ZEDS DEAD framed the project as a shifting transmission of sounds, samples and ideas. The result moves through club-heavy bass music, atmospheric passages and genre-crossing collaborations while maintaining the duo’s long-running emphasis on sound design and live impact.
