Tom Bomb’s Rendition of Freddy Fender’s “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights” is Here

NASHVILLE, TN (October 15, 2021) — Florida-based emerging Americana artist Tom Bomb has brought the Freddy Fender Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart topper, “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights,” back to life. Out today,— which follows the 15th anniversary date of Freddy Fender’s passing on October 14 — the song showcases Tom Bomb as a master of blending the past with the present.

Americana Highways noted that “Tom Bomb selected the perfect aspect of our collective unconscious to interpret here in Freddy Fender’s song, and he does it with just the right balance of oomph and finesse.”

The single is finding early radio support with NPR affiliated stations such as WXPN 88.5 FM in Philadelphia, PA for their “Americana Music Hour” show, WRKF 89.3 FM in Baton Rouge, LA and KRVS 88.7 FM in Lafayette, LA.

“Freddy Fender, in general, represents the idea that it’s never too late to follow your dreams,” says Tom Bomb. “The song represents the ultimate comeback story, in my opinion, after his legal troubles and he didn’t record again until he was 37 years old. Both contexts of the song resonate with me. It’s been a very hard road on a professional and personal level. I really connect with Freddy Fender’s life journey.”

Marrying swamp pop and 12-bar blues with modern production methods, the star studded cast of studio musicians such as Augie Meyers (Texas Tornados) — who was an organ player on the 1971 version — Nate Barnes (Rose Hill Drive), James Graham (Hannah Williams and The Affirmations) and Alex Bone (BBC Young Jazz Award Winner), team up to teleport you to a dimly lit Louisiana speakeasy. Mixed by Zach Allen (3x GRAMMY-winner, Keb’ Mo’, Old Crow Medicine Show, Buddy Guy) and mastered by Eric Boulanger (Willie Nelson, Green Day, Randy Newman), the single is rounded out by those who truly understand the swing and authenticity of swamp pop.

Inspired by the energy of rock n’ roll, storytelling of country music, emphasis of blues and the emotions of jazz, Tom Bomb utilizes these persuasions to develop melodic compositions for approachable tongue-and-cheek recordings.

Tom Bomb’s debut EP, This is Tom Bomb, is expected to arrive early next year.
