SHRINKWRAP KILLERS: Decibel Magazine Premieres “Eminent Death” Video/Single From Lo-Fi New Wave Synth Punk Project Led By Greg Wilkinson; Feed The Clones Pt. 2 To See Release June 13th On Carbonized Records

“Eminent Death” is the latest single from SHRINKWRAP KILLERS. Now playing at Decibel Magazine, the track comes by way of the project’s Feed The Clones Pt. 2 full-length, set for release on June 13th via Carbonized Records.

A demented form of lo-fi new wave synth punk emerged from the underbelly of Oakland, California in 2018, SHRINKWRAP KILLERS is a solo project brought to you by Greg Wilkinson, best known for two facets in the music world, the first being his recording studio, Earhammer, which has worked with bands like Necrot, High On Fire, Autopsy, Annihilation Time, Iron Lung, Undergang, Asunder, and hundreds of others for the past twenty-one years. The second being his own bands, which currently consists of Autopsy, Deathgrave, Brainoil, Static Abyss, Leather Glove, and a trail of other heavy bands over three decades.

SHRINKWRAP KILLERS however reflects very little of this list. Being a longtime fan of new wave, ‘70s/’80s Punk, film scores, sci-fi, horror, films, and comics, Wilkinson decided it was time to create a band capable of encompassing all these concepts into a consistent outlet. An attempt was made to create some twisted new wave/pop tunes in 2018 which ultimately kept pouring out. SHRINKWRAP KILLERS came to mind decades ago, influenced by the film, Bad Boy Bubby, where the protagonist had a short stint playing new wave music while wearing shrink wrap.

Comments Wilkinson on today’s “Eminent Death” single, “Our timeline really sucks right now but not as much as the one this song is about! Shortly after the protagonist’s arrival to space, Earth was nuked and everyone below was decimated. This hauntingly off kilter track follows this character’s bellowing pleas to anyone alive while floating in the Earth’s orbital debris awaiting death.

“I chose the adjective ‘Eminent’ in lieu of ‘Imminent’ to convey the protagonist’s desire for death while going through the futile motions of searching for other survivors. It’s as if they worship the idea of death. This track really stuck out to me while recording it from start to finish. I was able to play the drum track off of my close friend Jon’s Fun Machine straight into Protools. There is a full circle effect as he is half owner of Iron Lung Records who was responsible for releasing a few SHRINKWRAP KILLERS releases including Feed The Clones Pt. 1. For this track, I composed the song singing to this low-fi drum track. With lyrics and the melody established, it was easy to compose and layer all the music around these two elements. This was all done within an hour or two after tracking the vocals. I decided any more layers or mixing would probably wreck the strange desolate vibe.”
