At just 22 years old, SHRINK aka Sam Breathwick, made his debut last month with breakout single ‘Drowning’ paired with a flame engulfing video directed by ethan + tom – gaining support from tastemaker Abbie McCarthy, and named within Next Wave by Phil Taggert on BBC Radio 1.

Today, he shares new single ‘Eraser’ alongside news that his debut EP will be landing in February 2021.

‘Eraser’ is the most important and lyrically meaningful track on the EP for Sam as he wrote it about the unconditional care his mum showed in supporting his brother at the lowest moments of his life.

“I know that it’s hard watching history repeat itself, it goes on and on like a clock as it’s ticking in time time time, time and again…”

The hypnotic rhythm pulls you in with its slow acoustics and lively bass, alongside SHRINK’s captivating vocals and telling lyrics of what it’s like to see someone you love become someone different.

Talking about the forthcoming EP, Sam said;

“I wrote the majority of this EP about and from the perspective of my brother, seeing him slip into several lows because of depression, medication and misdiagnosis. It put a lot of strain on my parents and resulted in the atmosphere at home being pretty bad. It really tested my parents but their care for him was what got him to some form of stability again, showed me a lot of what it means to show unconditional love.”

SHRINK takes the standout qualities of King Krule, Beach Fossils, and Yellow Days, and completely makes them his own, and has a musical maturity that foretells many more exciting things to come.
