In observance of the Winter Solstice, Spanish blackened death metal behemoths NOCTEM today unveil their video for âThe Pale Moon Rite.â The threatening track comes by way of the bandâs crushing Credo Certe Ne Cras full-length, released in 2022 via MNRK Heavy.
Comments NOCTEM guitarist Moss, “After an incredible twelve months that saw us bring our Credo Certe Ne Cras show to some of Europe’s biggest metal festivals such as Graspop Metal Meeting, Summer Breeze, and Leyendas Del Rock, as well as cities far and wide, it feels like the perfect ending to the year to be releasing a music video for âThe Pale Moon Rite.â We hope that our devilish horde of NOCTEM followers enjoy the music video and play the song fucking loud! The sun has set, âThe Pale Moon Rite âbegins!”

Credo Certe Ne Cras â meaning âI Believe With Certainty That There is No Tomorrowâ â is a true master opus merging the crushing cacophony of angry, adrenaline-fueled lust with newfound sorrows and mournful melodic might. More than a mere listen, the album is a cerebral experience invoking ritualistic examination. In spirit, presentation, and philosophy, NOCTEM shares much in common with Watain, Rotting Christ, Belphegor, and Gorgoroth, while growing their own decaying branch of a wretched metal tree.Metal Injection lauded, âa nonstop onslaught of fiery blasts and throat-shredding screams,â BrooklynVegan hailed the bandâs inherent âpure black and death metal fury,â while Legacy noted, âNOCTEM succeeds in drawing their audience deeper and deeper into an ominous vortex of suffering, despair, and resignation.â
Credo Certe Ne Cras is available on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats. Find order options at THIS LOCATION.
Originating in Valencia, Spain, NOCTEM made their putrid presence felt with the rumble of 2002âs Unholy Blood demo. The God Among Slaves demo followed in 2007, building bloodthirsty anticipation for the bandâs proper full-length debut, Divinity (2009), on Austriaâs Noisehead Records. Metal Blade Records licensed Oblivion (2011) abroad, followed by a deal with Prosthetic Records, which issued Exilium (2014) and Haeresis (2016), a concept album centered on the Spanish Inquisition. (A special ârotten meatâ scented LP edition of Haeresis sold all of its 666 copies in under a week.) The Black Consecration (2019) expanded NOCTEMâs themes of ancient civilizations and dark rites to encompass more of Belethâs philosophy, previously outlined in his first book, 2017âs Codex Ante-Mortem, released the same year as the bandâs homemade beer, A Cruce Salus.
