NO SIGNAL
— ALTERNATIVE ROCK ARTIST —
RELEASES FIVE-TRACK EP
VENUS

NASHVILLE, TN (February 4, 2022) — Colorado-based alternative rock artist No Signal — moniker for 19-year-old Riley Schmelzer — has released his latest collection of genre-expanding music, venus. The five-track EP displays No Signal’s arena-ready signature sound and musical ability that’s well beyond his years.

venus arrives following the “kope” and “tantrum” singles which collectively caught the attention of New Noise, Music Connection Magazine, V13, Sound Vapors, and Loudwire’s “Weekly Wire,” among others.

While venus, as a body of work, showcases a wide palette of rock music’s greatest characteristics, “aphelion” — a stand alone single from the EP also being released today —  takes listeners on a four and a half minute ride articulating a softer side to his dynamic range, while maintaining a foundation of musical complexity.

Reminiscent of early 2000s rock groups, venus contains unique and experimental production methods. “The bands that challenged traditional pop song structures but still broke through commercially really stuck out to me and were partially responsible for my epiphany to start a band,” says Riley. “It wasn’t necessarily their sound, but more so their originality in how they recorded and delivered their concepts while turning them into records. I realized all the biggest bands in the world are in that position because they sound like nobody else; they created something new and unique. This is what I’m doing with No Signal…I’m wanting to break new sonic ground.”

Blending experimental elements from Tesla coil, theremin, EKG monitor, two-way radios, Moog synthesizers and members of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, venus has masterful musical arrangements and elevated production values that reinforces No Signal’s distinctive sound.
