REVIEW – Due out January 30, 2026, and self-released, FILI BIBIANO’S FORTRESS are gearing up to unleash ‘Death Is Your Master’, and after spending time with this record ahead of its release, I can confidently say this thing hits hard. There’s no filler here. No fluff. Just screaming guitars, pounding drums, thundering bass, crunchy riffs, and soaring vocals built for maximum impact.

From the opening moments of “Flesh and Dagger” (5:40), Fortress make their statement clear. The riff punches you square in the chest, and the dual-drum assault from Joey Mancaruso and Adrian Aguilar adds a layered, almost cinematic weight to the rhythm section. Fili Bibiano’s guitar tone is sharp and aggressive, but still melodic enough to hook you in. Juan Aguila’s vocals soar above it all with authority, delivering both grit and clarity. It’s a powerful opener that feels like it was designed to ignite a live crowd.

“Savage Sword” tightens the grip. It’s lean, chant-ready, and loaded with fist-pumping energy. The galloping feel underneath the main riff gives it that classic heavy metal charge, but the production and execution keep it modern. It’s the kind of track that has you playing air guitar before you even realize it.

Then there’s “Fugitive”, which takes a more deliberate approach. It slowly builds, layering tension and groove before exploding into a massive crescendo. This is where the band shows restraint and maturity. They don’t rush it. They let it breathe, and when the payoff hits, it’s huge. The dynamics here make this one of the standout moments on the record.

“Night City” shifts gears slightly with a groove-heavy swagger. There’s a rhythmic pulse running through it that gives the song personality beyond straight aggression. It still hits hard, but it moves differently—more sway, more atmosphere, without sacrificing weight.

“Blackest Night” (feat. Chris Nuñez) charges forward with galloping rhythms and scorching lead work. The collaboration adds another layer vocally, and the solo sections absolutely rip. This track feels built for big stages and raised fists. It’s heavy metal through and through—anthemic, aggressive, and commanding.

“Maze” locks back into tight, crunchy riffing and relentless forward momentum. The bass and drums stay thunderous but precise, allowing Aguila’s vocals to rise above the chaos without ever losing intensity. It’s compact, focused, and relentless.

Closing things out is “B.Y.O.D.”, a pit-ready bruiser that’s unapologetically aggressive. This one screams movement—slam, sweat, and thrash. It’s raw, energetic, and a perfect reminder of what this band does best.

As a self-released effort, ‘Death Is Your Master’ feels anything but small. It sounds confident, fully realized, and driven by pure passion for heavy metal. The dual-drum lineup gives it extra punch, Fili Bibiano’s guitar work blends precision with power, and Juan Aguila delivers a vocal performance that carries both authority and melody.

With its January 30th release right around the corner, FILI BIBIANO’S FORTRESS are poised to drop one of the most fist-pumping heavy metal records of the year. If you’re craving riffs that hit like a sledgehammer and choruses built to be shouted back from the pit, ‘Death Is Your Master’ is ready to take command.
