REVIEW – It is safe to say after almost 27 years and so many studio albums, that Delerium is a little bit more than a side project for Leeb and Fulber. While I have always been a fan of their work in Front Line Assembly, I have always loved what they have done with this Delerium project. This music harkens me back to the 120 Minutes era when Portishead and Bjork were finding their feet in the pool of music. I have to be honest, after Chimera I sort of lost track of what this band was up to. That being said, “Mythologie” seems to embrace the things i liked about their sound and delivery in the past with a freshness. If, you never heard one song by this band before, this cd would be the perfect place to start. Delerium seems to be a project that is driven by passion and dreamy pop soundscapes. This time the female vocals are handled by a group of women. (Mimi Page, Phildel, Jaël, JES, Geri Soriano-Lightwood and Leah Randi) Much like what Sam and Black Tape for a Blue Girl have been experimenting with, they have this dream like synth sound with these chilled beats that just comfort the vocals to make them feel more complimentary than overpowering.

“Mythologie” being the first released for such a diverse label like Metropolis Records, shows that the band can offer something that can fit in the roster. This album really creates modern rock tracks that could help change the landscape of where modern pop seems to dwell right now. The vocals on this CD are so extraordinary in such a sexually lush vibe. It is like you are listening to a band compliment a singer, and a singer making love to the mood and vibe. As much as I loved Chimera and the past releases, I have to be honest when i say, this is a career defining record by a band who does that with so many past releases. So, it is safe to say that this is career is constantly being re-defined. The synth and backdrop on this record is so lush and dreamlike. You could close your eyes to this record in your headphones and feel like you are romancing the clouds. If you are a fan of this band, you need to hear this new album to believe that this band is still creating such masterpieces. If you are new and you are into bands like Belle and Sebastian, Stars and maybe Front Line Assembly, jump in this record face first. I cannot recommend this album any higher. This album makes me fall in love with music all over again.
