REVIEW – Water Rising is new album from D.C. artist Dan Lipton. This folk album is an eclectic enchanting experience for the listener looking for a sense of the past and a camping nostalgia found throughout this album.
The first song “Ten Months” welcomes the listener along for the ride singing “wheels will keep turning to your love.” With steady guitars and drums, the following song “Turn the Volume Up” is a bouncy upbeat transition from the slower paced first song. One cannot help but feel like they are on a road trip in an old camper with this song playing that lulling road trip feel. “Songbird” is an acoustic piece with rich harmonies and foot tapping sounds. The album titled track “Water Rising” brings a fresh sound with bouncy guitars and drums for a sense of strength and perseverance with a fun folk vibe. “Mix Tapes” hones the moods of a summer road trip.
Overall, Water Rising is a great folk record for anyone looking for that great road trip or just to listen to over making s’mores. The songs keep the album on a great pace and enjoyable journey to experience.
