Nefarious Industries has infused Boston’s MIRACLE BLOOD into the labelâs unpredictable roster, today releasing a brand new “Lobotomizer” single/video alongside a repress of the bandâs prior LP, and the word of a new album on the way later this year.
Boston-based dissonant noise-punks MIRACLE BLOOD have carved out a reputation for their electrifying live performances, charismatic songwriting, and what has been called âthe best scream in the cityâ by the If It’s Too Loud… blog. Since their formation in 2014, the trio has performed incessantly, sharing the stage with bands such as Great Falls, Landowner, and Tree. After several independently released EPs and singles, MIRACLE BLOOD self-released their debut LP Melter in October of 2022, scoring a Boston Music Award nomination for Rock Artist of the Year in the process. Melter exposed the groupâs one-of-a-kind, genre-bucking take on noise-punk; dissonant, heavy, and chaotic, yet melodic, catchy, and playful all at the same time.
Alongside a repress of the Melter LP, MIRACLE BLOOD today unveils the new single, “Lobotomizer.” The song was produced with Alex Allinson (Bedtimemagic, The Freqs, Lesotho) and mastered at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright (The Armed, Sleep, Nails), and is paired with an energetic new video which was produced and directed by Haunted Basement Productions.
Guitarist/vocalist Andrew Wong reveals, ââLobotomizerâ is about the horror of losing control of your own life to societal pressures. Itâs so easy to fall into making so many life decisions because it seems like âwhat youâre supposed to do.â Life can become extremely prescribed if you donât take the time to question what you really want out of it. Itâs like having your brain controlled by someone else; those little voices in your head that say, âYou really should be doing this or that by whatever age.â You can easily wake up one day and realize the life youâre living is someone elseâs version of what is ideal. It happens a lot. Itâs mundane but still scary. I think the older we get, the more we feel these types of pressures.”
“The video was super fun to make,â he continues. âEveryone in the band is a huge fan of horror movies, so we absolutely love the way it came out. We didnât have a lot of time, but the ideas came together fast, and we got all the shooting done in just one day at our practice space. We worked with Haunted Basement Productions who were just amazing and really helped us develop our ideas and bring them to life so fast and so well.â
