About Divorce Money Records:
Divorce Money Records was founded by Kevin Williams, a North Carolina-based music lover and creative. From a young age, Williams became obsessed with all things music. From the Monkees tapes to punk shows in high school, Williams found endless possibilities for intaking and distributing sounds that he loved. “This had an appeal to me that has never gone away,” says Williams. After working for a record distributor, he became friends with the massive Portland band called Dandy Warhols. The genesis of Divorce Money Records came from an idea to release Miracle Whips’ album on vinyl. With limited finances, Williams found himself with a brilliant idea that just needed fuel. After mapping out a plan to re-release The Upsidedown’s Trust Electricity album on vinyl with the help of the band and friends, Williams is ready to launch Divorce Money Records. He plans to serve artists who fit his personal music taste. “I don’t plan to stick with one type of music or one region of the country,” says Williams. The label will launch on December 4, 2020 with Trust Electricity on vinyl, followed by other re-releases of cult-favorite albums by bands in and out of Williams’ friend group.
