KOSMODEMONIC: No Clean Singing Streams Entire Liminal Light Album; Second Full-Length From Brooklyn Black Metal Act Sees Release Friday Via Transylvanian Recordings

No Clean Singing is hosting an early stream of Liminal Light, the entrancing second album from New York City-based black metal outfit, KOSMODEMONIC, ahead of its release through Transylvanian Recordings this Friday.

A black metal band steeped in psychedelic doom influence, KOSMODEMONIC initially emerged from the creative primordial ooze of the Brooklyn underground, rapidly becoming local favorites. Piece by piece they crafted a sound that fuses the influences of black metal acts like Craft, melodically dissonant elements such as Voivod, and the art doom majesty of Triptykon and Yob. They sought to create a sound that was crushing but maintained a sense of classic metal magic, peppered with touches of krautrock, and psychedelia.

James Rauh of Transylvanian Recordings reveals, “KOSMODEMONIC is an unsettling psychedelic blackened doom metal band from New York. When I first heard Liminal Light, I was blown away at their ability to craft a horrifying and hypnotic record that is profoundly heavy and mesmerizing. This record haunted my dreams and psyche, there was something about the unhinged vocals that overpowered my mind. I couldn’t stop listening to this record and when I played other albums this was what my brain craved, so I found myself coming back to this over and over. It’s a really special recording. This is an almost avant-garde approach to extreme metal, I would put this in the same realm as colossal bands like Voivod, Oranssi Pazuzu, and Yob. Listen to this immediately, and come back to it and do it again, you need this in your life.”

With their advance stream of Liminal Light, No Clean Singing writes, “On this, their second album, KOSMODEMONIC prove themselves frighteningly talented in leading listeners through a nightmare-scape of harrowing and haunting sounds. They’re capable of inflicting cruel and unusual physical punishment — when they batter and stomp, it feels physical, and there’s a cold, merciless quality to those organ-rupturing impacts. The bleak oppressiveness of the music is enhanced by the intense wretchedness and pain channeled by the raw, wailing vocals and the desolating resonance of moaning melodies.”

Listen to KOSMODEMONIC’s entire Liminal Light full-length early only through No Clean Singing now at THIS LOCATION.

Liminal Light will see release digitally and on cassette through Oakland-based Transylvanian Recordings this Friday, May 7th. Place preorders HERE and see the previously issued lyric video for “Moirai” HERE.

In 2016, KOSMODEMONIC released their thrilling debut, The Inebriating Darkness, a devastating offering that only began to hint at what the group was capable of, which yielded rave attention from the likes of Decibel Magazine and BrooklynVegan. From there, the band embarked on an East Coast tour and even opened for Watain, Kvelertak, and Horrendous, among others.

Now, after years of hard work, KOSMODEMONIC is gearing up to release their new Sanford Parker engineered album, Liminal Light. With a new guitarist in tow and the whole pandemic spent waiting to release the record, Liminal Light is a thrilling offering from the band. It is a marked step up for the project, emphasizing the diversity in the sound and embracing everything from epic prog to thrash metal. The record also features the amazing artwork of Aleksandra Waliszweska. Jeremy Sosville of Sanhedrin and Black Anvil also supplies guest solos on the tracks “Drown In Drone” and “Broken Crown.” Of course, it all stays true to the bands original vision, and makes for an exciting record with lyrics that speak to the horrors of a society that can’t keep up with technological evolution. Liminal Light eagerly builds on past ideas and drives towards exciting futures. The band look forward to once more playing shows and even breaking into the festival circuit once more.
