Rock and Soul band from Oakland, California, the Idiot Grins release a new collection of prolific songs on the album titled Golf Cart Life. The album showcases varying elements of rock n’ roll, classic soul music, psychedelia, Americana, R&B, and a cinematic production.
The opening song, “Hell No,” sets the the stage for the album demonstrating their jazz infused sound with 1970s guitar hooks. “Vandals” is a slower paced song embracing bringing together piano, saxophone, and drums for a blues and Americana mix to a faraway feeling.
“Hulking Out’s is a faster paced rock song with strong vocals that are passionate and fearless. “Riff 24” is a great jazz R&B song featuring horns, bouncing drums, and a steady bass for a good time. “Minor Holiday” starts off with fantastic horns/saxophones singing about making a holiday song in the summer and the revelations of that song when summer is beach time.
Golf Cart Life is a fun, eclectic mix of songs that deliver on a laid back, entertaining listening experience. Any music fan cannot steer wrong giving this album a chance.
