Godsmack, along with co-headliner Staind brought their 2023 North American tour to Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia.
Opening the show was mix-master Mike, the DJ from the notorious Beastie Boys. Mix-master Mike played about 25 minutes of mixology to get the crowd ready for this warm summer’s night.
After a stage change the coheadliner, Staind came on. They played a 15-song list of their smash hits from the past, such as “Outside,” “It’s Been Awhile” and “Mud Shovel.” This was my third time seeing them, and I would say this is the best I have heard Aaron Lewis’ voice. The band all around put on an enjoyable show for the crowd.
After another stage set up, mix-master Mike came out again to get the crowd hyped up for what was about to be an explosive night of rock music. As he started playing Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” a large pop of pyro went off and the curtain dropped. There stood the bad boys of Massachusetts on stage getting ready to rock you out. Godsmack has been playing music for 25 years. Having released numerous albums over the years, they also played a 15-song set with such hits as “When Legends Rise, “Bulletproof,” “Voodoo,” “Cryin’ Like a Bitch” and “I Stand Alone.” Godsmack also performed a song that Sully Erna wrote called “Under Your Scars.” Sully and Godsmack started a foundation called The Scars Foundation. The organization was started to help people with mental health issues such as depression, addiction, and PTSD. Check out the organization when you get a chance. This is the fifth time I have seen Godsmack perform, and I would say that this was the best show out of the five, though all of them were good. Sully did a lot of interacting with the crowd and even threw bottles of water to people in the pit. One of the best things about the show – lots of pyrotechnics and fire.
