For fans of In Flames, At The Gates, Soilwork, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God
“Weâre so stoked to finally be releasing Jewels of the Maw! This single will eventually be on the album we recorded with Mark Lewis. He really motivated us to push the envelope and make a really strong body of work. I think weâve come out with something pretty special that showcases our sound in a way that people will really be able to sink their teeth into. This song is us making the music that WE want to hear, built on the foundation of all our influences that made us want to do this in the first place. We feel this single (and album) is going to turn some heads and call back to late 90âs/00âs melodic death metal and metalcore while looking forward to a razor-sharp sound. I think people will find it to be a breath of fresh air, that still reminds them of their favourite bands.” – Devolver

âDevolver uses melodies, intensity, and a variety of vocalists to hook you, reeling you from song to song making this such a welcoming and comfortable listen. I donât mean theyâre âeasy listening,â there heavy as f***, I mean thereâs always something different, youâll never get bored while diving into this debut.â â Vulture Hound
âIf After The Burial and The Ghost Inside had a lovechild, it would be Devolver. These guys blew me away with how professional, well written, and how well structured theyâve presented themselves with their SelfTitled record. Each song has its own personality, while still maintaining a signature sound. The breakdowns are simple, yet effective in each song. There is dynamic tension and then well-needed release throughout the record, and itâs downright masterful. This album is captivating, and I recommend anyone that is a fan of metal to check this out.â â Bucketlist Music Reviews

About The Track:
Musically, it comes in very hot with a scream and straight into an upbeat riff. As we move into the next section it picks up with the verse, which bring up memories of old In Flames. With a quick dazzle of technical riffage it brings us into the big melodic chorus, still keeping the screams at the forefront but guided by background clean vocals to add size and depth to this section. We repeat a few parts⦠Before reaching the bridge/solo section. This really breaks the song apart with a descending riff that breaks melodic norms and pulls the listener in a new direction for a while, laying out a new lyrical them and finally saying the name of the sing in the lyrics. Then weâre pulled back up to speed with a quick outro based on the verse to close out the track.

Fun Facts – Story Angles:
1. When we decided to work with Mark, we were scheduled to begin recording March 2020. Obviously, the Covid-19 pandemic changed our plans. We decided to stick it out and wait til we could record with Mark. He was our top choice and we knew if we worked with him we could get the album we wanted without compromise.
2. After years of waiting we finally began recording in July 2022. We flew Mark in to record with us at our home studio and hosted him at our guitarist and drummerâs house for a few weeks. He left after guitars and came back for a few more weeks to do bass and vocals. Then our guitarist and drummer flew to his studio in Nashville to record drums and guitar solos.
3. We won a battle of the bands 2017 for an opportunity to open for Protest The Hero, and it was a killer show!
L-R – Jayde Penner (Rhythm Guitar), Jaylen Elias (Bass), Chris Brown (Vocals), Bevin Booth (Drums), Devin Babcock (Lead Guitar)
Formed by guitarist Devin Babcock and drummer/producer Bevin Booth, and later rounded out by guitarist Jayde Penner, vocalist Chris Brown, and bassist Jaylen Elias, Devolver blends groovy metalcore and melodic death metal, creating a unique sound that appeals to fans of modern metal genres while embracing their old school influences, wearing them on their sleeve. With their heavy-hitting new album in tow, fully produced, mixed, and mastered by all-star metal producer Mark Lewis (Megadeth, Trivium, DevilDriver, Whitechapel, etc), and fueled by a passion that can only be understood by seeing their unbridled live performance, they are ready to make waves in Canadian and international metal scenes alike. They have played a host of praise-worthy shows in their home province of Alberta as well as B.C. since their inception, including an opening set for Protest The Hero and a spot in the legendary Loud As Hell Festival in southern Alberta. With influences that range from At The Gates and Children Of Bodom, to Pantera and Whitechapel, Devolver has a unique identity that bridges the gap between the old-school melodic death metal that dominated the 90’s and 00’s, and the new school of tight, relentless metalcore we see thriving today. While it can be hard to pin down their sound, this blend of grooves and infectious hooks has managed to find them a rapidly growing fanbase across a wide swath of the metal community. Their ability to shift fluidly among these styles, coupled with their signature brand of live entertainment, makes it easy to see why they’re on a path to success. With the help of a newfound friend and collaborator Mark Lewis, they will be shopping and showcasing their new full-length album to some of the highest esteemed metal record labels around the world, with the confidence that they’ll succeed in finding a home for their album. Not ones to sit idly by while the cogs of the machine begin to turn, Devolver is stepping up to the plate and putting together a string of shows to keep themselves busy for the rest of the year, continuing to spread their melodic grooves as wide an audience as possible.
