No Echo is hosting an exclusive premiere of âAttaining Heaven By Force,â the new single from Oakland, California-based crossover assassins DOOMSDAY. The track is found on the bandâs incinerating Depictions Of Chaos EP, nearing release through Creator-Destructor Records.
DOOMSDAY is a crossover/thrash band that draws influence from the likes of Sepultura, Slayer, Iron Age, Metallica, and Power Trip, boasting a triple-guitar threat within their lineup. Formed in 2018, the band includes members from different parts of the Bay Area metal and hardcore scene. The band has previously released several singles which have been re-recorded for Depictions Of Chaos, as well as the 2022 promo tape Riff City which featured an Iron Age cover, and has shared the stage with bands like Gulch, Ripped To Shreds, Municipal Waste, Creeping Death, Omerta, Speed, Dead Heat, Spinebreaker, Earth Down, and more.
The drums and guitars for Depictions Of Chaos were tracked and edited by Charles Toshio at The Panda Studios with additional vocals, guitars, and bass tracked at Nu Tone Studios. All tracks were mastered by Zack Ohren at Sharkbite Studios and the EPâs cover art was created by Selena Rodriguez. The EP also features several guest vocalists, including Gus Villaroel (Beg For Death) on âDepiction Of Chaos,â Ben Murray (Darkness Everywhere, Light This City) on âAgony Blossoms Fear,â and Justin Martinez (Field Of Flames) and Andrew Lee (Ripped To Shreds, Houkago Grind Time) on the new single, âAttaining Heaven By Force.â
With the premiere of the EPâs second single, DOOMSDAY vocalist Carlos Velazquez reveals, âI wrote âAttaining Heaven By Forceâ for a lot of different reasons. I was heavily inspired by a poem that I love called âDeath That Need Not Have Beenâ by Flora Hendricks and how she describes how haunting a battlefield can be. I also wanted to keep in theme with all the different forms of chaos I had in mind; a lot of the songs deal with mental anguish and the aftermath of it, but I wanted to write one song that was as literal as possible, and the idea of war just encapsulates chaos perfectly. I wrote the guest part specifically for Justin of Field Of Flamesâ voice in mind; when our guitarist Ryan writes a riff I kind of immediately get the vibe I want to go for story-wise and I just knew Justin would fit the part and knew he had to be on the song.â
With the songâs premiere, No Echo writes, âMining influence from the likes of Sepultura, Iron Age, and (old) Metallica, California sextet DOOMSDAY are astute students of the Power of the Guitar Riff… Depictions Of Chaos will arrive next month, but I’m excited to share a song called âAttaining Heaven By Forceâ from the EP. The addition of Justin from Field Of Flames on the track only helps cement its power…â
