Dark Electronic Band, HEM NETJER Talks Of Releasing Inner Warriors With New Single
“Elemental Cry” out NOW!
“Swelling electronics, chanting, bassy vocalizations and foggy atmospheres are the order of the day. We expect we’ll be hearing more from this trio in the very near future.”– I Die : You Die
“Elemental Cry” is the third single release from dark electronic folk band, Hem Netjer. The track will appear on the band’s upcoming album, The Song Of Trees, scheduled for release at the end of February, 2023.
“Elemental Cry” features themes of struggle, facing your fears and releasing your inner warrior to overcome odds. The song speaks from two different points of view; the verses from the warrior’s view and he chorus from the general’s view. The warrior will have to fight in a battle they know they can’t win while the general’s job is to support the clanmates so they can do the right thing even though they will not survive in the end.
The atmosphere, fueled by the lyrics is one of finding the strength within to be a part of something bigger. It’s the realization that there are no divides between those who work and those who call themselves “family”.
Lines such as “we are the land and the flame, the air and the waves speak our name” speak to how your spirit and soul live on in nature and the community around you when you are physically gone.
“Elemental Cry” is available on all major digital platforms including Bandcamp.
The music video for “Elemental Cry” was filmed in Vancouver BC, Canada, in Lighthouse Park on the traditional and unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples.
Cinematography was done by Joey Chaos, Eric Gustafson and Joe Sams. Music production was done by Scott Fox and was recorded with Jason Corbett at Jacknife Sound. Art direction was done by RavenRissy and Joey Chaos.

Hem Netjer creates Dark Electronic Folk music based out of Vancouver, BC, Canada. Inspired by the middle Egyptian word for god’s servant (priest), we combine ancient stories, traditional instruments and modern technology. Haunting female vocals blended with deep throat singing and catchy synth lines create sounds that – as a reviewer noted – “moves the body and the soul”
RavenRissy is the lead vocalist, songwriter and visual designer. Her musical talents also include, classically trained piano, clarinet, fiddle, harp, tagelharpa, rotta lyre and frame drum and she has studied under artists such as Lindy-Fae Hella from Wardruna. Her Egyptology degree greatly influenced the EP Kemet, including the song “Anubis”; sung in ancient Middle Egyptian.
David Deckard is interested in combining traditional sounds and electronic music and specializes in digital sound design. Using his skills as a computer programmer he experiments with different technologies and input devices with the goal to bring digital melodies to the stage in a way that feels as natural as a traditional instrument would.
Jesse Ellytt experimented with creating electronic music until discovering throat singing. Using the traditional Tuvan style as a base, his deep reverberations mixed with digital bass lines shapes into a unique combination of sounds and rhythms. His style of singing creates an experience that will be different each time a song is performed.
