Everything Is Noise is hosting the world premiere of a stunning new video from German singer/songwriter CONNY OCHS, created for the song âHickhack.â The selection is the new preview of the artistâs impending German-sung Wahn Und Sinn LP and poetry book, nearing release through Exile On Mainstream.

Four-and-a-half years have passed since CONNY OCHSâ most recent album, Doom Folk. During the Corona lockdowns, CONNY OCHS had the time to go through a collection of notebooks that he had amassed during his time in Hamburg, Berlin, and while traveling as a singer in various bands. This was collected under the title Wahn Und Sinn, initially to be published independently. However, rom the collaboration with Tobias Vethake aka Sicker Man at Trialogos also arose the desire and the idea to work together another time. CONNY OCHS developed rough melodies for the lyrics. The aim was to avoid the singer/songwriter approach that had previously characterized CONNY OCHSâ music. The initial experiment turned into an album whose cover, for the first time, does not feature artwork by the artist himself but a picture by Scottish artist Abi Salvesen. Here, too, a departure from his usual way of working is manifested.

Wahn Und Sinn will be released on LP with a CD included. The book will also be available as a limited edition with a bundled CD at concerts. In the Exile On Mainstream webshop, the record and book will be available individually or as a bundle. Finally, the content of the record complements the content of the book, inspired by the confrontation with the poems from the years 2000-2010. The book and the insert included with the album contain all texts in German and English. Also on the album is Connyâs longtime friend and companion Hannes Scheffler, who also handled the final production, mixing, and mastering of the record, as well as Anna Ochs as the singer on the track âLumos.â

As an experimental excursion and reflection, Wahn Und Sinn thus forms the transition to a new chapter in CONNY OCHSâs creative work, which is to be followed by a new official album as early as Spring 2024.

The beautiful video for âHickhackâ was created by Pietro Bondi, with OCHS as the subject. He reveals, ââHickhackâ was actually one of the first songs I wrote for the album, and an unusual one too. The lyrics are the remains of a dream I had during that intense period when I rediscovered the German language after many years of absence from writing in it. ItÂ´s a love/hate situation, almost feels like a battle with myself. With ambitions, with a society I never could adapt to really, with people at some times, with love. I picked it as a single since I feel it describes being driven and the struggle which the album as a whole talks about quite well. Plus, itÂ´s got a title thatÂ´s going to make peopleÂ´s heads itch a bit, I hope.â

With the videoâs premiere, Everything Is Noise writes in part, âCONNY OCHS is an artist that does not shy from experimentation. The entire concoction of âHickHack,â as well as the conception of OCHSâ solo project, seems to be a product of his desire to not only express but manifest his visions… The emotional, almost Vaudeville-esque procession of the track and video envelopes plenty of artistic quality, and CONNY OCHS will instantly have your attention with his themes of rediscovering yourself by way of breaking down and rebuilding…”
