AUDIENCE Network‘s multiple series of original and exclusive performances give music fans an intimate view of music’s most influential artists today. The network collaborates directly with musicians to create a unique show from their perspective.
Basted in music before she was even born, Aubrie was raised on the road with her mother, the GRAMMY award-winning Lee Ann Womack, her father Jason Sellers, now a top songwriter, was on the road with Ricky Skaggs. On her debut New City Blues, Aubrie wrote or co-wrote the 14 songs on the album and teamed with Frank Liddell to produce. Heralded by Garden & Gun for its “brash bold sound that’s made her one of Nashville’s most electric acts,” New City Blues has established the raven-haired songwriter/guitarist as someone destined to inject some muscle into today’s country. In keeping with that attitude, her single “Sit Here & Cry”–co-written with longtime collaborator GRAMMY nominee Adam Wright–seemed to be the perfect introduction to country radio. With a strong country undertow, the drums crash and electric guitars tangle, as Sellers runs through a litany of devastations in a voice The Houston Postproclaims, “channels a young Dolly Parton one moment, and a fiery Shania Twain the next.” And by keeping the sonics crisp, “Sit Here & Cry” gives minimalism a new force that holds its own in a world of big production.
On an album that skewers mean girls, come-on cowboys and Madison Avenue brokered desire and boasts not a single acoustic instrument, “Sit Here & Cry” is the perfect introduction to a powerful new talent voice in an ever changing world. Having attracted the notice of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” SiriusXM’s The Highway and NPR’s First Listen, the woman who played CMA Music Fest and Bonnaroo back-to-back is getting ready to hit the road as part of Tucker Beathard’s Rock On College Tour, as well as headline her own electric shows (see dates below).
