ARTIFICIAL BRAIN To Host Gimme Metal Guest DJ Show Tuesday, June 7th; Eponymous Album Out Now On Profound Lore Records + European Tour Nears

NYC progressive death metal unit ARTIFICIAL BRAIN will host a Gimme Metal guest DJ set tomorrow, Tuesday, June 7th at 7pm ET/4pm PT. Tune in and join in the chat at gimmemetal.com.

ARTIFICIAL BRAIN released their eponymous third album through Profound Lore Records last week. The group’s final recording with original vocalist Will Smith (Afterbirth), Artificial Brain is the terminal installment in a trilogy that includes 2014’s Labyrinth Constellation and 2017’s Infrared Horizon. Smith’s lyrics on this eponymous LP take a retrospective look at the sci-fi mythology developed on the previous records, using these ideas to explore themes of isolation, madness, and the inexorability of nature. Rounding out the recording is an impressive roster of guest performers, including death metal legends Mike Browning (Nocturnus A.D.) and Luc Lemay (Gorguts) as well as long time collaborators Paulo Paguntalan (Miasmatic Necrosis) and Colin Marston (Krallice).

The guitars, bass, and vocals for Artificial Brain were tracked remotely by the members over the course of 2021, while the drums were recorded by Finn Jansen at Lava Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The album was mixed and mastered by Colin Marston at The Thousand Caves in Queens, New York, and features artwork by Adam Burke with layout by Chimère Noire.

Artificial Brain is out now on CD, cassette, and all digital platforms, with the LP expected to ship by early July. Find ordering options at Profound Lore Records RIGHT HERE.

ARTIFICIAL BRAIN’s first ever European tour will see the band swarming the continent for more than half of July, with show booked from the 12th through 31st. The band will be touring alongside their allies in Devoid Of Thought for the trek, and Inter Arma vocalist Mike Paparo will be handling vocals for ARTIFICIAL BRAIN for the trip. See all confirmed dates below and watch for updates over the days ahead as the last few dates are filled and the band continues to announce additional live news.

“There’s a bit of an astral prog quality to their music, and there’s melody in there, too, but they never let that stuff compromise their ferocity. They’ve got some of the same experimental leanings as a band like Gorguts, but they truly sound like nobody else.” – Stereogum

“Whether death metal luminaries ARTIFICIAL BRAIN are warping minds with insane discordant musicality or melding atypical melody lines in counterpoint (or welding both in unison), there’s always a sense of cohesion and purpose to the chops on display.” – Decibel Magazine

“Even darker, and even more intense – and benefitting from an even more OTT, yet still subtly nuanced, production job – this album is akin to being caught in the gravity well of a collapsing star, every song simultaneously crushing and compacting your physical body with its sheer weight even as it stretches and expands the boundaries of your spatio-temporal awareness.” – No Clean Singing

ARTIFICIAL BRAIN have carved out a particular niche for themselves in recent years, but this album sees them inhabiting it completely.  They are unique, and it looks like there is a lot more that they have left to do before the Technocolypse.” – Nine Circles

“…ten crushing tracks of dissonant death metal that are amazing on first listen and even more rewarding on subsequent listens, as new layers are revealed with each new play. 5/5” – Metal Epidemic
