REVIEW – After more than two decades of silence, industrial-metal pioneers RORSCHACH TEST return with ‘Fallen’—a searing and emotionally charged album that hits just as hard in its lyrical themes as it does in sonic aggression. Out October 31st, the album marks a new chapter for the band, blending industrial grit, personal transformation, and metal rebellion into a visceral, empowering experience.

The album opens with “Our Brand Is Armageddon”, a snarling introduction to this new era—synths pulse beneath distorted riffs and James Baker’s commanding vocals drive home the chaos of our modern world. From there, “Machine Gun Love” kicks in with old-school groove and biting lyrical precision, evoking the raw energy that made Rorschach Test stand apart in the ’90s scene.

The title track “Fallen” delivers a crushing, mid-tempo groove layered with emotional weight and electronic texture. The lyrics, penned by the enigmatic Narcoleptic Goddess, dive deep into themes of pride, addiction, and spiritual collapse with poetic brutality. “Trigger” and “Embracing The Shadow” rip forward with aggressive riffs and haunting samples, addressing trauma and internal war through a filter of synth-driven fury.

“Insectide” and “Save The Bees” strike a balance between industrial mechanics and surreal commentary—conceptually dark, but compellingly human. “Silence” stands as one of the most emotionally raw tracks on the album—slow-building, atmospheric, and painfully honest, with Baker’s vocal performance at its most vulnerable.

The album closes with “Belated”, the second single that introduced the world to the band’s rebirth. Premiered via Revolver, the track combines gothic undertones with industrial-metal stomp, a powerful reflection on loss, regret, and redemption. It’s the perfect way to end an album built around inner reckoning and spiritual upheaval.

‘Fallen’ isn’t just a comeback—it’s a resurrection. With Kolby Peoples bringing a sharp modern edge to the guitar work and production, and Baker returning with deeper purpose and sharpened vision, this album isn’t looking to recreate the past—it’s forging something new. What’s more, the band’s mission to bring awareness to mental health and addiction on their 2025 tour adds another layer of authenticity and purpose to everything they do.

RORSCHACH TEST has returned, not only with fire and fury—but with clarity, purpose, and a message.
