The Bleak Assembly was formed in July, 2022. Two weeks after its inception, the first EP, We Became Strangers was unveiled. The Bleak Assemblyâs meaning takes inspiration from Charles Dickensâs âBleak Houseâ â the “Bleak Assembly” being the chain of people in the story whose lives are destroyed by the promise of wealth

In September, 2022, The Bleak Assembly released the EP, We Become Strangers. This was followed up by the âAlibiâ single in February of 2023. Strangers Among Strangers was then released in June, 2023. The goal of this EP, says Michael Smith was to âtry a different sound. Bands seem to fall into a certain sound after a while, so if that should happen to us. I wanted to open it up to a more electronic sound to give us more room in the future.â

Michael and Kimberly have each shared the same stage with bands such as
Assemblage 23, Razed in Black & Switchblade Symphony with their own projects while The Bleak Assembly will likely remain strictly a studio project.

Currently The Bleak Assembly is collecting all previously-released tracks to make them available on all streaming platforms and a possible physical release at a later date. Michael and Kimberly are also currently working on the next Bow Ever Down EP and will get back to the next release from The Bleak Assembly after that.
