REVIEW – Vancouver-based Alternative/Rock band Whitbeck debuts their new album January 22. The twelve track album showcases engaging guitars and arrangements with versatile rhythms.
The first song “West Coast Love Song” features searing guitars against haunting rhythms and vocals. The song resonates with strength and perseverence. The title track “Jan 22”starts off at slower pace asking “Will you still love me?” bringing in melodic drums and guitars in tandem for a great rock song. “Carpe Diem Sunrise” features pianos with fierce vocals before devolving into a drum beat for a fun song that never lets go.
“Cinema” showcases frenetic guitars to start and then dives into a soaring rock tune. “In Other Worlds” closes the album with a rocking guitar solo before delving into piercing vocals and a steady drum beat to drive home their debut album. For fans of 90s grunge rock will find this album a welcome addition to their collection.
