REVIEW – San Francisco Bay Area Post -Grunge/Psych Rock band Drowning Effect release their new album titled Techniculture. Their unique combination of simplified rhythms overlaid with twisted guitars and haunting lyrics draw the listener in for a spellbound experience.
The first track “Bright Lights” showcases the difficulties in a relationship. The follow up song “Bounce” is a throwback 1960s easy going rock track. “Headlines” featured a swinging guitar, enduring tambourine, and a sound that embraces the psychedelic rock age. “Gun” features a fast paced drum solo bringing in cutting guitars diving in the history of violence. “Same Thing” pairs pulsating electric guitars with a steady drumbeat. The album closes with a slow paced guitar solo on “Rockskipper” exploring the intricacies of the aspects of life.
The album will keep the listener coming for more and having a new experience every time.
