EPK – Escapement – Feed (2021) (single)
“Feed was the first song that Alex and Johnny worked on together. It started out small and took many months because of both of their busy schedules, but eventually, it grew, Johnny sent the original song to Alex and Alex wrote keys for it. At that point, Johnny had a wild idea to actually have Alex fly to Florida, and work on a video together with Thomas Crane from Kill Devil Films. It organically came together and was a great success!”

Escapement was born on the high seas when vocalist Johnny Ray (3 Headed Snake) and keyboardist Alex Nasla (Helion Prime, Wither Fall) were attending the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise. Ray (vocals) was a stagehand, and Nasla was working in the capacity of press for his company Gear Gods. The two kept in touch, and during the first COVID-19 shutdown Ray sent over some music he was working on to Alex, and they decided to move forward and make things happen.
A few months later after the songs were finished, they decided to shoot a music video for their planned debut single “Feed”. Nasla flew to Florida and they shot the music video alongside Loren Whitaker (drums), Chris Massie (guitars), and Brandon Delpino (bass), it was directed by Thomas Crane of Kill Devil Films.
The name Escapement comes from the movement of a mechanical watch, winding the group’s love for cyberpunk aesthetics and steampunk design together with the purpose of the escapement, keeping balance. This name greatly represents the project aesthetically and spiritually.
Escapement is a force of lyrical/vocal prowess, atmospheric yet technical keyboard work, dark and heavy guitars, and banging drums and 2021 will have lots to come from the act. Moving forward in 2021, there are plans to release more material including singles, music videos and writing an upcoming debut album. When the world returns to normal, fans can expect a band that sounds as good live as it does recorded.
