Performing Two Sold-Out Shows at the Grand Ole Opry Tonight (6/5)
Thanking Fans with Sold-Out “Friends” Party on Thursday (6/8)
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (June 5, 2018) – Praised by CMT for “[bringing] to life the difference between boys and men,” Chris Janson’s official “Drunk Girl” video proves that it delivers a timely message and stirring visual as it surpasses 1 million views in the two weeks since its release (watch HERE). Directed by Jeff Venable and clocking in at 550K views in just seven days, the video more than tripled Janson’s previous first-week record for his Platinum-certified, No. 1 smash “Buy Me A Boat.”
“The response from the song and music video for ‘Drunk Girl’ has been overwhelming,” says Janson. “The day Tom Douglas, Scooter Carusoe, and I got together to write, we were writing from a father’s perspective, and we just wanted to write a song that mattered. With the music video, we hoped the visual would bring about healthy conversations regarding consent and that is exactly what is happening. I’ve had so many people, from all different age groups, tell me at shows that ‘Drunk Girl’ is a story that needed to be heard. I’ve had a couple of folks tell me they played the video for a fraternity. If this song and video can stop one person from being put in a place they don’t want to be, then everyone involved will feel they were part of something that mattered. Making a difference in this world through my music and making my fans, friends and family proud is all I really want to do.”
The chart-topping singer/songwriter and widely praised entertainer is the youngest living member of the Grand Ole Opry, so it was fitting to share the “Drunk Girl” video with his fans following the first-ever YouTube Live stream on the Opry’s historic stage. In an interview with People magazine he explained how the “gripping narrative” came to fruition. “Drunk Girl” is currently nominated for MusicRow’s “Song of the Year” award, who declared upon its release, “Each vocal performance seems more expressive than the one before… extraordinary intimacy… a wonderfully inventive lyric about behaving like a gentleman. A superb record.”
Janson will bring the intimate ballad to life tonight (6/5) as he performs back-to-back sold-out shows at the Grand Ole Opry, with Carrie Underwood. Known for his signature high-octane live shows with songs such as the “hyper-turnt” (Billboard) “Redneck Life” and No. 1 hit “Fix A Drink,” the spirited performer will treat fans to a special show at his sold-out “Friends” party at downtown Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon on Thursday, June 9 at 9:30AM. The event serves as a preview to his party-starting dynamism that crowds can experience during Nashville’s Let Freedom Sing! Music City’s July 4th concert and on the road this summer across the nation for Jake Owen’s “Life’s Whatcha Make It Tour 2018.”
