IMPUREZA are not stopping the Flamenco-death train anytime soon with todayâs release of âLa Orden del Yelmo Negro,â the second single from their upcoming album Alcázares, due for release July 11, 2025 via Season of Mist.
Known for their uncompromising blend of brutal death metal and flamenco-rooted Spanish folk, Impureza continue to forge their path as creators of “Hispanic Metal.” With âLa Orden del Yelmo Negro,â they dive deep into the mythologized esoteric heart of the Reconquistaâan era of war, faith, and fire that spans over seven centuries of Iberian history.
The track pays homage to the sacred brotherhood of warrior monks sworn to the titular âOrder of the Black Helmâ (Orden del Yelmo Negro). Steeped in mysticism, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to the cross, the song narrates a spiritual crusade across desert lands toward the Holy Land. Dual guitars ignite in a blaze of flamenco flourishes and blast-beat fury, while orchestral arrangements, fretless bass, and guttural vocals bring to life a vision both ancient and transcendent. As with the rest of Alcázares, the lyrics are delivered entirely in Spanish, invoking a vivid world where myth and martyrdom intertwine.
âLa Orden del Yelmo Negroâ is released alongside an official lyric video by Louis Viallet that immerses viewers in the bandâs cinematic medieval soundscape.
âWorking with Impureza was an immense pleasure,â Viallet shares. âCreating something new for a lyric video within such a strongly defined universe and powerful music was a very enriching experience. In this time of great changes linked to AI, I find it important to highlight the traditional creative approach that was followed in making this video. AI was never used at any point in the creative process; to me, it seems essential to preserve a trace of humanity in what defines us: expression, communication, and what we pass on to future generations.â

Praise for Impurezaâs 2017 âLa CaÃda de Tonatiuhâ:
âImpureza are all in on flamenco. Itâs not just a classical guitar break in every song with some maracas thrown in. Even when the band are doing death metal riffing, itâs in the style of Latin guitar.â – Heavy Blog Is Heavy
âSitting still will be impossible with these riffs playing; technical but catchy, bludgeoning but still easy enough to read, and incorporating oriental elements in the leads.â – Angry Metal Guy
âThe musicians clearly all know what theyâre doing on this release, from the impressive guitars, to the frolicking, wandering bass, to the sometimes jaw-dropping drums.â – Wonderbox Metal
âLa CaÃda de Tonatiuh is an absolute blast to listen to, and I am happy to recommend it without reservation.â – Last Rites
