REVIEW – With their eighth full-length studio release ‘Queen of Crows’, Australian metal veterans TEMTRIS return with a vengeance, delivering a bold and emotionally charged record that balances unflinching lyrical themes with soaring power metal grandeur. Known for their genre-blending approach and commanding live performances, the band proves once again that two decades in the scene have only sharpened their steel.

Evil Lies” kicks the album off with blistering riffage and soaring vocals from Genevieve Rodda. This track sets the tone for what follows—relentless energy and unflinching commentary on human nature. “Scars of Betrayal” wastes no time diving into themes of deception and regret, its melodic hooks balanced by thunderous double kicks and sharp lead work from Donovan Taylor.

The Risk” is a dynamic anthem about standing tall in the face of adversity. It pulses with a sense of urgency, pushing the tempo and emotional stakes. “Narcosis” follows with a darker atmosphere, weaving psychological turmoil into the mix through nuanced rhythms and brooding guitar harmonies.

One of the standouts is “Murder of Crows”—both musically and conceptually. It’s theatrical and menacing, with layered vocals and a haunting refrain that embodies the album’s core theme of reckoning with fate. “Dying to Believe” brings the emotional energy to the forefront, balancing vulnerability with power in one of Rodda’s most passionate performances.

Carnival of Tears” is a slow-burning epic, brimming with grandeur and melancholy, as the band plays with pacing and dynamics to pull the listener deep into their narrative world. “No One Is Listening” amps up the aggression again, with Fox’s guitar tone slicing through a storm of rhythm, questioning societal silence and apathy.

Closing track “The World is Bleeding Out” encapsulates the album’s emotional and thematic weight in a final, desperate cry for change. It’s cinematic, intense, and cathartic—an unforgettable end to an unrelenting ride.

TEMTRIS‘s ‘Queen of Crows’ is not just an album—it’s a statement. With razor-sharp musicianship, haunting melodies, and a fearless exploration of the human condition, the band cements their legacy in the pantheon of modern heavy metal.
