On March 15th, 2023, the Rock Resurrection Tour made it’s way to Dallas Texas inside The Factory in Deep Ellum. Saint Asonia, Theory of a Deadman, and Skillet delivered the goods and by judging from the reaction from the crowd, rock has definitely been resurrected.
First up Saint Asonia, led by former Three Days Grace frontman, Adam Gontier and former Staind guitarist, Mike Mushom. I forgot how much I loved Adam’s vocals. Such a unique voice. They got the crowd going by playing some song of their newest release, Introvert/Extrovert. I was happy to hear Adam Gontier didn’t forget his past with a few Three Days Grace songs, and even reached back to his days in Apocolyptica. My second time seeing Saint Astonia. It was a great set to open the night!
Next up on this night was a band that always give their everything on stage, Skillet! They are literally a ball of energy on the stage! They opened with the song Feel Invincible off of their 2016 release Unleashed. Their set consisted of many hits from previous albums, but also many songs off their latest release, Dominion: Day of Destiny. many highlights from this night from the Co2 arm cannons to the cello player, to Adam Gontier joining them on stage to perform a song he helped with vocals on the new album, Finish Line. I have covered Skillet multiple times and it’s always a blast. I loved the energy and the stage show. They are well worth the effort to see.
Headlining tonights show was Theory of a Deadman. They took the stage performing the title track of their latest album, Dinosaur. This was my first time seeing Theory, and to be honest, they went above my expectations. Starting off with Neil Diamonds “Sweet Caroline” over the speakers and the crowd singing as loud as they could. Followed by the guys coming out and starting off their actual set with “Bitch Came Back”. About half way through the set they pulled out a few covers, Chris Issak’s “Wicked Game” and Garth Brooks “Friends in Low Places”. Ending their set with “Bad Girlfriend”, with some snippets of Paradise City and Walk, If you get the chance, check out the Dinosaur album, it has got some great moments on it!
