REVIEW – With their latest single âFingerprints,â THE VIOLENT returns with an electrifying anthem that blends the raw energy of rock with atmospheric digital elements. Emerging from the ashes of Red Sun Rising, this trio â Mike Protich, Dave McGarry, and Pat Gerasia â has harnessed the intensity of isolation during the pandemic to craft a new sonic identity.
âFingerprintsâ kicks off with haunting electronic textures that build tension before giving way to pulsating beats and searing guitar riffs. Protichâs powerful vocals soar over the dynamic instrumentation, weaving a narrative of longing, defiance, and transformation. The song balances moments of quiet reflection with explosive choruses that hit like a tidal wave.
Lyrically, âFingerprintsâ explores themes of identity and the lasting marks left by relationships. The track resonates with emotional depth, capturing the turmoil of trying to move forward while being haunted by the past. McGarryâs gritty guitar work adds a layer of urgency, while Gerasiaâs pounding drums keep the energy driving forward.
The production, helmed by Albert DiFiore in Nashville, masterfully merges organic and digital elements, creating a sound that feels both modern and timeless. The chemistry between these former bandmates is palpable, and their ability to create such an impactful track while working remotely during the pandemic speaks to their resilience and artistry.
âFingerprintsâ isnât just a return for THE VIOLENTâitâs a statement. Theyâve proven that theyâre not content with simply replicating past successes. Instead, theyâre carving out a new path that pays homage to their roots while exploring uncharted sonic territories. Fans of their former work with Red Sun Rising will appreciate the familiar intensity, but THE VIOLENT offers something new and undeniably captivating.
As THE VIOLENT continues to redefine modern rock, âFingerprintsâ sets the tone for whatâs to come. This is a track that leaves a lasting impressionâone thatâs impossible to shake.
