REVIEW – Alternative metal/post-grunge outfit THE ODDEVEN is set to release their highly anticipated album, Outer Space Outtakes, on March 14th, 2025, via Eclipse Records. Known for their groove-driven riffs, hypnotic rhythms, and raw, unfiltered energy, the band delivers an album that explores themes of alien encounters, complex relationships, and breaking free from toxicity. With massive hooks, spacey atmospheres, and hard-hitting riffs, Outer Space Outtakes is a wild ride through cosmic mysteries and human emotions.
The album launches with “First Encounter,” an eerie and psychedelic opener that immediately pulls listeners into THE ODDEVEN’s cosmic world. Haunting melodies and heavy grooves set the stage for the journey ahead. “Innocent” follows with a dark, brooding intensity, blending post-grunge textures with emotionally charged vocals. “Come Home” shifts gears into a blues-infused anthem, packed with gritty emotion and powerful storytelling. “We Gonna Go” turns up the rebellious energy, boasting headbanging riffs and a fist-pumping attitude that’s impossible to ignore.
Midway through the album, “Suffering” delivers a moody and atmospheric experience, layering melancholic melodies over crushing instrumentals. “RIPG” stands as one of the album’s most poignant moments, an emotive tribute to lost friends, wrapped in haunting guitar work and heartfelt vocals. “Free” comes in swinging with an aggressive, no-holds-barred energy, a track dripping in raw power and unapologetic intensity. “Soul” takes a slower, more sludgy approach, layering dark grooves and intense vocal deliveries that linger long after the song fades. Closing out the album, “Come Home (Extended Version)” expands on its earlier counterpart, drawing out its gritty emotion and cathartic energy for a more immersive finale.
Outer Space Outtakes is a bold and immersive statement from THE ODDEVEN, further solidifying their place in the alternative metal and post-grunge scene. The band strikes a perfect balance between aggressive rock anthems and atmospheric, introspective moments, making this album a must-listen for fans of hard-hitting, groove-heavy rock.
