REVIEW – Nothing are one of those bands like Placebo that I feel different people will perceive different things. It is clear that this band has a great mix of shoegaze and dream pop. This band could be seen as the hybrid of My Bloody Valentine if they merged with early day Hum. This album is a gorgeous landscape waiting to be discovered. There are so many subtle hints that this band seems to be trapped in a world that they are trying to figure out for themselves. Domenic Palermo is much like Brian Molko in the fact he tries to capture a side of him on record that does not reflect the true person. Palermo seems to be living thru some nightmare that may be caused by mental issues from a past that many may not have lived thru. I feel some people if they did not make music, would either be homeless or dead. Domenic is one of those souls. He is meant to make music. Music is subjective, much like reviewing music. What I feel in each song, may not be what you feel. I feel this album is a fucking cry for help. Someone who is looking up from the bottom of the abyss with a gleeful smile while they know it may not get better yet. This album is alarming and very emotionally draining. You can feel such a passion in each arrangement. This cd feels like a character study more than a stack of songs. We can call it a complicated melancholy. This is a band that have 3 seriously underrated records that deserve to come together for listeners. In a era of music that comes out today and is forgotten today, this is a cd that will stick with you long after you hit stop. For fans who miss the old school My Bloody Valentine or Low, this is a cd that you have to hear. I think I need therapy after going thru this cd.
