MORBIKON is pleased to present a video for âFlames That Bind And Shadows Cast.â Now playing at Decibel Magazine, the track comes by way of the bandâs Lost Within The Astral Crypts full-length, out today on Tankcrimes!
Lost Within The Astral Crypts is a cold serving of macabre metal that escorts the listener on a frigid journey throughout time, space, and death itself. Composed by Phil âLandphilâ Hall (Municipal Waste, Cannabis Corpse, Iron Reagan) shortly upon the completion of the bandâs first record, Ov Mournful Twilight, this new creation features a darker, faster, and more visceral approach to their unique concoction of extreme metal.
The video for âFlames That Bind And Shadows Castâ serves as the third installment of the bandâs animated nightmares. Elaborates Hall, âI am thrilled to present everyone with the third installment of my medieval fantasy animated series featuring the music of MORBIKON. I love getting a chance to dive back into the universe that is building in these videos. I have learned so much since creating the first video four years ago and I hope that it shows!â
Adds Decibel, âMusically, the track hits the sharper, more vicious end of the â¦Astral Crypts spectrum â a rush of cold-melodic violence, rippling tremolo arcs, and the kind of atmosphere Hall describes as âsoaked in classic â90s underground blasphemy.â â¦one of the recordâs defining moments.â

Lost Within The Astral Crypts stands at the #33 spot on Decibel Magazineâs Top 40 Albums Of 2025. Of the bandâs first single, âHeavens That Burn And Eons Divided,â Metal Injection hailed, âthe perfect blend of death metal and blackened fury. Maybe more the latter than the former.â New Noise Magazine gushes, âEverything that worked on their debut is doubled or tripled here, with a genuine sense of unhinged, barely contained pandemonium working in the bandâs favor. Thrash-y, hyper-melodic, symphonic (with a hat tip to a WWE hype legend), MORBIKON masters the ability to sound evil with a smirk. Itâs not quite camp, but it knows how much damn fun itâs having along the way. Does that mean itâs the best black/thrash record of 2025? Yes, it does to these ears.â Rebel X lauds, âan album that is sure to stand the test of time,â while Heavy Music HQ adds, [MORBIKON]⦠holds course with Lost Within The Astral Crypts⦠The closing title track is an eight-minute saga with everything from atmospheric synths to a rushed tempo ready to capsize at any moment. Thereâs a nastier energy to Lost Within The Astral Cryptsâ¦â
