JAM IN THE VAN–the world’s first solar powered mobile music studio and discovery platform–will take over South By Southwest music festival next week in Austin, TX, as they’ve partnered with GQ to showcase 40-plus bands at the GQ x JAM IN THE VAN HOUSE, March 18-22.
SXSW kicks off a big year for JAM IN THE VAN as they’ll be traveling over 10,000 miles in 2015 to bring music fans more than 200 performance sessions of subscription-free content from emerging and established musical acts at multiple music festivals across the country. Beginning next Wednesday (3/18), GQ x JAM IN THE VAN HOUSE will host JAM IN THE VAN sessions for a week straight, featuring performance by Plain White T’s, Surfer Blood, The Mowgli’s, Cody Simpson, The Sheepdogs, Jamestown Revival and many more (lineup poster below). In addition, the GQ x JAM IN THE VAN HOUSE will produce a live showcase sponsored by Swatch on Friday, March 20, jam-packed withperformances by American Aquarium, Alberta Cross, Ivory Deville, Stop Light Observations, T. Hardy Morris and the Hard Knocks, and The Black Cadillacs. Also featured at the house: an NCAA Tournament viewing room presented by Toshiba, a pool, photo booths from HISY and FotoFwd, alcoholic beverages provided by Lagunitas Beer, Dark Horse Wine, Tito’s Vodka, Stillhouse Whiskey, non-alcoholic beverages provided by AQUAhydrate and Chameleon Coffee, a s’mores station from Dark Horse Wine by the fire pit,and a gear station for artists to try out new products from Orange Amps, Guild guitars, Cordoba guitars and MXL Microphones. Since being founded in 2011 by Dave Bell, Jake Cotler, and Louis Peek, JAM IN THE VAN has provided a one-of-a-kind platform for over 500 performance sessions from the likes of Gary Clark Jr., George Clinton, Matisyahu, Misterwives, Allen Stone, ZZ Ward, Robert DeLong, The Orwells, Blues Traveler and Deer Tick (links to sessions below). When not on the road, the van hosts musical talent in their Venice, California hometown and sessions are uploaded every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday on their website and YouTube channel. Every Thursday, JAM IN THE VAN uploads a new interview or non-performance segment.
JAM IN THE VAN’s influence will continue to grow in 2015, with the help of their sponsors Lagunitas Brewing Co, Toshiba Electronics, GoPro, MXL Microphones and Orange Amps, as they’ll be traveling over 10,000 miles to bring music enthusiasts more than 200 sessions of subscription-free content from buzzworthy bands at multiple festivals across the country. “2015 will be the most prolific year to date for JAM IN THE VAN,” says founders Bell and Cotler. “We’ll travel more miles and discover more great music than ever before. We plan to expand our content slate and increase our reach to cover a broader fan base than ever before.”
