“If everyone says something is impossible, just turn around and say, ‘Look.’
Resistance to conventional norms gives a power.
That’s the spirit of innovation and rock’n’roll.”

On February 23, 2024, the new album of Bavarian metal foursome DUST BOLT will be released via AFM Records. Pre-orders are available HERE!

With Sound & Fury, the band is ushering in a new era, first single releases such as the album title track or songs like “I Witness”, “New Flame” and the metal-meets-hard rock hit “Burning Pieces”, have already surprised and convinced fans and critics alike. Today, DUST BOLT present another song from their upcoming longplayer, and “dare” to skillfully combine the sound of disco and thrash!

“What can I say about “Disco nnection”?! I think the song says it all. This track takes you into the depths of Munich’s nightclubs and Freddie’s legacy. Munich is, even if often forgotten, a somewhat sacred place when it comes to music history. Queen, Zeppelin, Rainbow, .. they all recorded their albums here – and celebrated.” Tells DUST BOLT frontman Lenny B.

“During the pandemic, I was really drawn to the world of Quincy Jones’ music and work. I kind of fell in love with the music of the 70s and listened to a lot of disco, pop and soul from that era. They all had at least one thing in common: great musicianship and a magical passion for their instruments and the whole band playing together. No fuc*** computers, quantization and autocorrects. 2 Takes – feeling – and Go!

The next day I entered the rehearsal room, we had this heavy riff. Rectilinear. Pure Heavy Metal. It was obvious. We had to add a disco beat. Disco & THRASH? Yes.

If everyone says something is impossible, just turn around and say, “Look.”
Resistance to conventional norms gives a power. That’s the spirit of innovation and rock’n’roll.”

Since their founding in 2007, the young high-flyers of DUST BOLT have caused quite a stir in the scene. The quartet around frontman Lenny Bruce has been friends with a common passion for metal since childhood and has established itself as one of the leading thrash metal bands in Europe.

Written during the long months of pandemic isolation, the album finds the band at the peak of their creativity, and is a huge leap forward in every way. “Sound and Fury was written during the band’s darkest and most difficult period.”Explained DUST BOLT recently. “For the first time in our lives since we were teenagers, we were kind of separated from each other and the dream we were living together seemed to fail. It was during the pandemic days when the band even decided to take a break from each other when Flo brought this particular piece of music. Not knowing how he would channel and express our feelings, he inspired LB to bring “Dust Bolt” unusual but felt and honest vocals to the stage, while Nico would even introduce a disco beat to a metal song at the end. We didn’t know what was going on – we just did it. We knew there would be thousands of voices telling us that we couldn’t put that on a Dust Bolt record. But more than that, we knew: “As long as the four of us stick together, we can do anything we want.” Sound and Fury is a story of friendship, struggle, and inner turmoil. SuF is a story about us. SuF is a different, open and honest Dust Bolt who shares his deepest emotions with you, the listeners.”

Sound & Fury is not only the first DUST BOLT album with their new bassist Tom Liebing, but also the first to be produced and recorded by frontman Lenny Bruce. The analogue mix was provided by Moritz Enders (Revolverheld, Silbermond and others). Although the new record is still deeply rooted in thrash and old school metal, it adds a new color, dynamic, and variety to the band’s signature sound. Sound & Fury is catchier than any previous album, but darker and heavier than ever. It’s the sound of a great band that is now reaching its full potential and taking it to a new level. Or as they describe it best:

“This album marks not only the rebirth, but the beginning of a new era for DUST BOLT. For metal in and from Germany. Because we’re hot & we’re ready. We have a lot to tell. Because that was just the beginning.”
