DEAD
1h 30m | Comedy | Not Rated | 6 October 2020
Marbles, a hapless stoner, can see ghosts. Using a homemade concoction of neurological medication and marijuana, he’s getting along just fine mediating between the living and the dead for a pittance of a living, until Officer Jayson Tagg, a recently dead wannabe super-cop, makes him an auspicious offer: help him find a serial killer in exchange for a hefty payout of life insurance. The money will allow Marbles to buy back his family house, the only link to happy memories Marbles shared with his late father, and which his domineering mother is selling. With the help of Yana, Tagg’s alcoholic sister on house arrest, the unlikely duo of stoner and ghost cop follow clues to a pumping gay bar, chase a mysterious hooded figure, then run into Marbles’ mother who’s out on the town in an attempt to get over his father. The night gets more horrifying when they hit a body, and it turns out to be Tagg’s, moving on its own as if possessed by a gormless ghoul. Marbles and Tagg must overcome perverted talent agents, soul-sucking ghouls, and their own differences, with time running out until Tagg turns into a soulless ghoul. While Marbles faces horrors from his past, Tagg must overcome his personal demons in order to save his newfound friend.
