Of the âHeavy Dutyâ series, Chris Baio says:
“Last summer, Mike made the long trip from St. Ives England to Los Angeles to perform a studio session of songs from our debut album. At Heavy Duty Studios in Burbank, we were joined by Garrett Ray on drums and played three songs from our album, including ‘Life of Mineâ with Day Wave. We also covered Pink Floydâs ‘Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sunâ – a song that occupies a fascinating place in Pink Floydâs discography. It is the only Pink Floyd recording that all five primary members played on, and was further immortalized by LCD Soundsystemâs ‘All My Friends.’ Playing music together for the first time was exciting, and I canât wait to play our first two real shows in Paris and London next month. These sessions were directed and edited by Tom Mull – he did an amazing job, and I particularly love what he did on our song âRomaâ by splicing together skateboarding footage of his family. We hope you enjoy it.”
