Oklahoma City-based industrial metal outfit BLACK MAGNET has confirmed a three-week US tour this March. The Violent Mechanix Tour will run from March 1st through the 19th, BLACK MAGNET will be touring alongside King Yosef.

BLACK MAGNET will be supporting the band’s second LP, Body Prophecy, which saw release through 20 Buck Spin in July and was touted as one of the top industrial releases of the year. James Hammontree welds the frenetic vitality of post-punk and metal energy with driving synthetic club beats, factory force physicality, and alluringly stark melodic pulses. For all its harsher, scraping atmospheres and pummeling aggression, Body Prophecy always remains an eminently tight, memorable album molded for the stage and constructed to keep bodies in motion and listeners transfixed.

Body Prophecy was engineered and mixed by Sanford Parker at Hypercube Studios (Youth Code, Statiqbloom, Bloodyminded), mastered by Colin Jordan at the Boiler Room (Ministry, Pigface, Eyehategod). The record features artwork by Jesse Draxler (Nine Inch Nails, Ghostmane, H09909), photos by Johnny Bohlen, and a completely re-imagined and extended club style remix by scene legend Justin K. Broadrick (Godflesh, Zonal, Jesu).

While mastermind James Hammontree performs all instrumentation in the studio, the BLACK MAGNET lineup is embodied on stage with Ryne Bratcher on guitar, Eric Goreman on synth, and Jared Branson on drums.

Watch for additional updates to post in the weeks ahead.

“…an uncompromising force of heavily metallic machine music…  amidst the clanging atmosphere and clattering beats are gnashing guitars with the destructive capacity of an electric fence built from razor wire.” – Revolver Magazine

“Produced and engineered by Chicago-based metal master Sanford Parker, the record combines massive, slamming electronic beats, harsh guitar squalls, copious glitchy synths, and processed, tortured vocals. It ditches the melodic flourishes and dance-floor-ready energy of BLACK MAGNET’s previous work for an unsettling listen that leans slightly more Godflesh than Nine Inch Nails and more Uniform than Marilyn Manson.” – Chicago Reader

“While it’s tempting to influence-worship with stuff like this, BLACK MAGNET does a good job acknowledging how many of those styles have found their way into the project throughout Body Prophecy, but they don’t become just another act waiting for their turn to prostrate at the altar. Instead, BLACK MAGNET weaponizes the style and uses it for its own chaotic branch of the tree.” – No Clean Singing

“James Hammontree’s vision for BLACK MAGNET balances the notions of extremity and immediacy…The metallic touches of the past are more pronounced and combined with a punk attitude they result in utter havoc.” – PopMatters

“If nostalgia does play a role here, it’s a fleeting impulse in what’s otherwise a commitment to further exploration of a potently dystopian sound through complementary contradictions of decadence and destruction. At its loudest, Body Prophecy is the most direct kind of noise therapy, but when a rift opens within its field of distortion, an even more bewitching kind of tension remains.” – Treble
